Tanned skin should be protected first. The sun is as much your friend as your enemy, it colors your skin while drying it. We must learn to know and to tame the sun.

Here are our 5 Tips to naturally prepare your skin for the sun:

1- Foods rich in antioxidants

In order not to attack your skin, it is important to adopt a diet rich in antioxidants that fight against the oxidation of cells generated by free radicals. They therefore protect the organic molecules present in the body. In particular, they reinforce the natural barrier of the epidermis. Carrots, tomatoes, beets, blueberries or white beans are foods rich in antioxidants. Raw, in juice or smoothie, they will hydrate your body while protecting your skin.

2- Internal hydration

Second vital rule, valid throughout the year and especially in times of high heat: hydration. Remember to drink minimum of 1.5L of water each day. Water is essential for the transport of nutrients and minerals contained in the body, it helps prevent drying of the skin and cutaneous aging caused by sunlight. In the evening, consider applying a natural after-sun (HAVE FUN AFTER SUN Lotion), with Aloe vera & Calendula, that will rehydrate your skin damaged by the sun. Hydrated skin is the key to a lasting tan. In addition to its intense moisturizing qualities, it plays a restorative and soothing role for the skin.

3- UV protection

No need to destroy your skin cells, cause premature aging even worse to be burned. It is important, and even if you want to tan, to apply organic sunscreen before each sun exposure to protect you from UV. Do not forget any part of the body especially around the clothes and shirt, nor the face where the skin is fine. Choose it preferably in SPF 30 to 50 for adults and 50+ for children. Do not expose toddlers to the sun. As a reminder, avoid hours of high exposure, between 12h and 16h, where the sun is the most aggressive. Remember to protect your eyes with sunglasses and a hat or cap for your head. Vegetable oils If you want a nice tan, apply morning and evening organic vegetable oils such as carrot oil, rich in beta-carotene and vitamins, apricot kernel oil or macadamia oil. By gently penetrating the epidermis, carrot oil helps your body fight against ultraviolet rays and prolongs the natural tan. Fluid, macadamia oil penetrates without leaving a greasy film and helps to restructure the epidermis. Finally, apricot kernel oil, naturally rich in mineral salts and vitamin A, intensively nourishes skins sensitized by heat and the sun. To deeply moisturize your skin, use a moisturizer preferably organic or coconut oil.
The latter removes the dead cells present on the skin and deeply moisturizes the dry and sensitive areas of the body.

4- Food supplements

Achiote (Bixa orellana) : This antioxidant plant is very rich in beta carotene. This plant native to the Amazon, increases the production of melanin in the skin and promotes natural tanning. It has the advantage of fighting the aging of the epidermis. In powder form and mixed with organic vegetable oil, it is applied to the skin. In capsule form, it is consumed as a dietary supplement.

5- Astaxanthin:

It is an antioxidant molecule naturally present in micro-algae. This pink or reddish natural pigment belongs to the carotenoid family.
